The Boardman Family

Boardman Family Introduction
History of the Boardman Empire
Boardman Family Collection
PictureThe Boardman Family Collection of the East Haddam Historical Society

The Boardman Family was the original founder of the Connecticut Silversmith industry. Established in East Haddam CT in 1842, and utilizing the natural downward flow of East Haddam's creeks and streams, Luther Boardman built a powerful industry of mills and factories to produce his Britannia styled spoons and other cutlery.

The East Haddam Historical Society holds a large number of Boardman files and maintains an exhibit which examines the rise and fall of the Boardman Britannia spoon making industry. These pages focus on the East Haddam Historical Societies digitally preserved documents, photos, and information on the Boardman Family.
